What customers say?

“ Honestly one of the best fish and chip shops I’ve been to. The staff were super friendly and made us feel right at home. The fish was fresh, the chips were perfect, and everything tasted amazing. But the real surprise was the ice cream. absolutely delicious! You don’t often rave about dessert at a chippy, but this one deserves it. Great food, lovely people, and a really nice atmosphere. Highly recommend. ”

“ These folks truly know what great food should taste and look like! Honestly, this is by far the best fish and chips that I’ve ever tried. I ordered a portion of chips, a jumbo battered Newmarket sausage, and their homemade curry sauce—and let me tell you, that curry sauce is the best I’ve ever had. I’ve sampled a few other chippies around Bury, but none come close to offering a curry sauce this smooth, flavorful, and free of lumps. On top of that, everything is always packed and presented beautifully. ”

“ We had a lovely meal on 19/01/2026, starting with perfectly cooked breaded chicken and chips, followed by a delicious dessert that finished everything off beautifully. Compliments to Chef Giles, who clearly puts real care and skill into every plate — the food was fresh, well‑seasoned, and genuinely enjoyable. A special mention also goes to Rosie at the front of house. She was welcoming, attentive, and made the whole experience feel relaxed and friendly. Her service added a personal touch that really stood out. Overall, a great experience from both the kitchen and the front‑of‑house team. We’ll definitely be back. ”

“ Came with my family of 5 today. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and best tartare sauce I have ever had. Excellent service. Highly recommend ”

“ Impromptu lunch in Hendo’s today with the wife and our little dog Jojo. We were made to feel very welcome. We both had Cod and chips with mushy peas and it was delightful. The fish was fresh but not too wet, the batter literally melted in your mouth and not at all oily. The chips were fried in rapeseed oil and were cooked to perfection. Fluffy on the inside with a golden and crisp outside! We were told that the oil is filtered twice a day and it really showed as every single chip was perfect and again, not oily! Mushy peas were tasty and hot! Although we had the homemade Tartar sauce (which was delicious) and tomato sauce, to be honest the food was so tasty it didn’t really need the condiments. Washed down with a cold beer, you can’t get a better, traditional lunch in town! Highly recommended ”

“ I had the best fish and chips I’ve ever tasted! The batter was perfectly crispy, the fish was fresh and flaky, and the chips were cooked just right. The staff were absolutely lovely too. A fantastic experience all around. Highly recommend! Can’t wait to come back and have it again. ”

“ I went for a small portion and it was just the right amount. £9 for small cod and chips eating in. I added mushy peas and the home made tartar sauce, which is delicious. The fish was perfectly cooked and the chips were nice, fluffy on the inside with a crunchy exterior, as you would expect with triple cooked. Finished my visit off with one of their vanilla and chocolate ice creams. Two of us ate fish and chips, we had a soft drink each and I had a regular ice cream, £36. Good value. The staff were lovely and helped us with some suggestions on places to visit in the area. Thank you. ”

“ We came back to this restaurant a year after our first visit while on our travels — and it’s still absolutely outstanding! The first time was already incredible: perfectly cooked fish with a thin, crispy, not at all greasy batter, and chips that were light and fluffy inside, enveloped in a beautiful crispy coating. A year later, nothing has changed — it’s still our number one fish and chip place! My kids love it, and so do I. It’s rare to find food that’s this consistently delicious and freshly made. We’ll definitely be back whenever we’re in the area! ”
